Stepping onto the National Training Centre court in the sports hall brought back memories of last year and marked the beginning of the KPAE Badminton Tournament 2025.
The warm welcome from friends, old and new acquaintances, and elders filled my heart with joy—it was truly exciting to see them once again. The warm-up session gave us the opportunity to practice our clears, smashes, drops, and pick-ups. I particularly enjoyed watching players use disguise and deception to outsmart their opponents.
As soon as the matches began, we played with intent and passion. Some games were incredibly close, with scores tied at 20-20, making the tension palpable. All eyes were fixed on the shuttle as it soared back and forth, until a deadly smash—perfectly placed in the corner of the court—secured the winning point. The excitement and laughter from spectators were infectious, creating an electric atmosphere that we hope will continue in every KPAE badminton tournament to come.
Sweat dripped from our foreheads as we stepped off the court—glory remained with the winners, dignity with those who lost, and happiness within everyone who participated.
For me, the highlights of the tournament were:
- Reuniting with friends and making new ones
- Experiencing the thrill of competition and the strategy behind badminton
- The determination required to push through tough points
- The realisation that this sport not only keeps us fit but also strengthens us mentally and physically
Later, we all gathered at our regular community meeting place. The gossip, mischief, and laughter echoed through every conversation, spreading positivity and joy. It was truly a spectacular time, and I thoroughly enjoyed every moment.
As always, it was a pleasure to see our community unite as a family.
