Event
Each year KPAE organises various events for the KP and wider community all over the UK. These events are family friendly and a chance for us to connect over Kashmiri Pandit culture and heritage.
The following events will be planned for 2025-26.
New Years Dinner and Dance - 25 January, Marlow
Our delayed Diwali celebration from last year.Â
KPAE Badminton Tournament – 1 Feb 2025, National Badminton Centre, Milton Keynes
This annual event is not the only sporty event in our calendar but is our biggest and most popular one. Everyone participates – from adults to kids to seniors. A day of matches and rallies which ends with a social gathering involving a warm meal. Trophies for the winners.
Herath – 8 March, London
Herath or Shivratri is the biggest cultural and spiritual event for Kashmiri Pandits and we will celebrate it with much fervor and passion at the London Sevagram Sangha on 8 March. Bhajans led by kids, and bhojan prepared by volunteers, it will be a day of absolute bliss and divinity.
Navreh and AGM – 26 April, Birmingham
Navreh or New Year, is another significant celebration in Kashmiri Pandit calendar. We will celebrate it in Birmingham to make sure those in the midlands can find it easier to connect with our events. Our annual general meeting will also happen on the same day.Â
KPAE Premier League – 26 May, Catford Wanderers, London
Our very first Cricket tournament open to all men, women (soft ball) and kids (playing hard ball cricket). Cricket is a passion for many, and now we have the excuse to share that passion with our bretheren.
Kheer Bhawani Havan – 29 June, London
Mata Kheer Bhawani is the residing deity at the Kheer Bhawani Temple in Tulmul, near Srinagar. The term ‘kheer’ refers to a milk and rice pudding that is offered to propitiate the goddess. The worship of Kheer Bhawani is universal among Kashmiri Pandits, most of them who worship her as their protective patron deity. This havan also takes place in a temple and food is served to all attendees.
Summer picnic – Mid August, London
An intergenerational event which introduces the younger generation to traditional Indian games like Kho-Kho, Pithoo. Picnics can generate a lot of waste so we have gone back to the good old days of using low waste, eco friendly methods.
10k Fundraising walk – September, London
Raising funds for KMECT – Kashmiri Medical Emergency and Charitable Trust, this family friendly 10K walk will end in a social.
Diwali Dinner and Dance – tbc, London
Our annual Diwali event is our biggest cultural event and is usually an evening of performances and games followed by dinner and dance.
