KPAE on the Move: Together in Spirit and Stride

Yesterday, many of us came together for a 10km fundraising walk – and what a truly memorable day it turned out to be. For me, the highlight was meeting dear Ankur ji’s respected mother, whose blessings touched us all. My own parents also joined, and I remain deeply grateful to everyone – especially Kapil ji and Ankur ji – for looking after them with such kindness and warmth.

Leading us with her trademark energy and grace was dear Sarchana ji, a true inspiration for walking for health. I also had the pleasure of spending time with dear Neha ji, whose enthusiasm motivated us all to keep competing and clocking up steps. I managed over 27,000 myself, though I am certain she surpassed that with her spirited determination!

A special word of thanks must go to our dear Shipra ji, the backbone of our community, whose tireless efforts hold so much together behind the scenes. And of course, the ever-inspiring Sushain ji Sadhu deserves heartfelt appreciation – for his vision, his ability to strengthen our roots, and even for bringing the walk bibs all the way from India. His joy and energy made him the life and soul of the day.

Our young people are our pride. Sushain ji continues to embody the values we need as a community to grow stronger. It was equally a delight to welcome dear Ahana, who has been in the country for just three weeks yet instantly found a sense of connection and togetherness with her Kashmiri family here. We were also glad to welcome Sharang ji, our newest entrant, who so quickly won everyone’s hearts.

The spirit of our youth shone brightly. Shaurya, Aayu, and Shravan played cricket for hours, always looking out for one another, while our lovely Zooni engaged so beautifully with both elders and peers, especially Shivani and Sharika. These simple yet profound moments reminded me that our youth are our future – and they fill me with hope and confidence that our values and traditions will not only be carried forward, but also evolve progressively to enrich both our community and society at large.

Throughout the day, the bonds of friendship and family grew stronger. My dear wife was fully immersed in the company of her community, walking miles with joy. Arun ji, with his ever-smiling presence, added elegance and warmth, while Sunita ji’s radiant energy and kind smiles lit up the journey. And as always, dear Ankur ji’s humour kept us laughing until our sides ached.

The walk was filled with many simple joys – children playing, mothers connecting, elders sharing their wisdom – all woven together into the fabric of community that makes KPAE so special. And of course, the treats made the day even sweeter: ice cream, coffee, Ankur ji’s phenomenal samosas, and Kapil ji’s crisp, golden jalebi.

For me, this was also a day of personal growth – a chance to make new connections, strengthen old ones, and leave with a deeper sense of fulfilment. It was a timely reminder of how vital it is to remain close to our community, which is, in truth, our extended family. God bless you all.

I would also like to acknowledge those who, though unable to attend, generously donated to the cause and reminded us that they are always with us in spirit: Manisha ji Misri, Monika ji Dhar, Kamesh ji Kaul, Anusha ji Bazaz, Oneil ji Sadhu, Sheetal ji Kaw, Suman ji Tickoo, Aruna ji Kotha, and Jeevan ji & Sudha ji Rawal. Many thanks for your kind sentiments and contributions 🙏.

I missed those who could not join us, but it was a day overflowing with fellowship, inspiration, and gratitude. I look forward to many more such moments together.

With deepest affection,
Sunny Bhaiya
