I hope this edition of Koshur Khabar finds you and your families in good health and good spirits.
While recent weeks have been dominated by headlines about the summer heatwave and changes in the UK’s political landscape, for our community the highlight has undoubtedly been the successful Pragaash Yatra organised by GKPD. We are delighted that two families from the UK participated, including our Executive Committee member Dr Jeewan Rawal and Sudha Rawal Aunty, who share some of their reflections in this issue. Their experiences remind us of the deep spiritual and cultural bonds that continue to unite Kashmiri Pandits across the world.
This month has also reminded me how fortunate we are to have the guidance of our elders. Our traditions are kept alive not only through festivals and gatherings, but through the quiet dedication of those who generously pass on their knowledge to the next generation. I would like to acknowledge Dr Girdhari Bhan Uncle, whose enthusiasm for teaching spoken Kashmiri continues to inspire many of our younger members. Likewise, Asha Razdan Aunty and Phoola Warikoo Aunty have been sharing the beautiful tradition of Wanwun with an eager group of learners. These intergenerational connections are among our greatest strengths and will ensure that our language, customs and heritage continue to flourish.
Looking ahead, we are excited to launch a new Competitive Badminton Tournament on 12th July. This pilot event is aimed at experienced players and reflects our commitment to promoting health, wellbeing and friendship through sport. If successful, we hope to make it a regular feature of the KPAE calendar.
Finally, I extend a very warm welcome to our newest members, Sunil and Jyoti Dhar ji and Neelu Dassi ji and family. Thank you for joining the KPAE family. Membership remains the foundation of everything we do. At just £10 per month by standing order, your support enables us to organise cultural, educational and social activities that strengthen our community and preserve our shared heritage for future generations.

Kheer Bhawani Havan, Epsom

The UK biradri came together in devotion and fervour for our annual KheerBhavani Havan in Epsom, London. The day was filled with breathtaking darshan of Mata Ragnya Devi, a delicious saatvik bhog prepared and served by volunteers, the offering of posh kand to our Tulmul ‘naag’ and the sounds of leelas and shlokas.
For so many of us, making a home away from home, community events like this are the anchor we need to stay connected to our cultural roots. As always, the participation of the young was commendable as we move from strength to strength.
Huge thanks to everyone who volunteered to make this event such a divine success.
Kashmiri Pandit Community in Munich Commemorates Bhagwan Gopinath Ji’s Nirvana Divas
The Kashmiri Pandit community in and around Munich gathered at the Shivalayam Temple to observe the Nirvana Divas of Bhagwan Gopinath Ji with deep devotion and collective participation. The event, organized for the fifth consecutive year with the dedicated support of volunteers, witnessed the participation of around 50 devotees who came together to offer prayers and maintain the spiritual traditions of their heritage.
The day-long observance began with Kalash Poojan, followed by continuous rituals and puja performed with reverence and discipline. Devotees remained engaged in prayers throughout the day, creating an atmosphere filled with spiritual energy and devotion. The program concluded with the recitation of Bhagwan Gopinath Ji Chalisa and Aarti, marking the end of the sacred proceedings on a deeply devotional note.
Volunteers played a significant role in ensuring the smooth conduct of the event and also prepared traditional Kashmiri prasad, which was lovingly shared among all participants. This communal sharing of prasad further strengthened the sense of unity and cultural connection among the attendees.
Speaking about the event, Mayur Aima, on behalf of Bhagwaan Gopinath Europe chapter, expressed his gratitude to the community: “I sincerely thank everyone for coming together and participating with such devotion. It is heartening to see the faith and dedication everyone brings to this gathering each year. I am deeply thankful to all the volunteers and participants who make this possible. I also warmly request everyone to continue supporting and participating in the future so that we can keep our traditions alive for the coming generations.”
The gathering reflected not only religious devotion but also the strong cultural bonding among Kashmiri Pandits living in Germany. With active participation, disciplined organization, and shared spiritual intent, the event once again reinforced the community’s commitment to preserving its heritage far from its homeland.

Namaskar to all – the elders; my equals and younger ones
The Global KP heritage tours (6 – 14th June 2026) was a “ONE SUCH EVENT” for me. During this 2 week trip I have touched base with my roots in Kashmir after 36 years of exile. I managed to see temples, Ashrams and other holy places at the remotest parts of the valley.
I also saw pockets of KP families living around these far off areas, heavily involved in the upkeep of these temples & holy places. This was an eye opener for me. However at every place there is security presence by CRP / Local police.
There are various projects of continuous improvement of these places going on funded only by KP donations which makes me feel very proud KP. I also went to see KP families living in camps. They have major issues which needs addressing via the Govt. Admin.
Being a paediatrician it gave me a tremendous joy to see KP children from these camps excelling in academics; sports; KP literature ; arts etc in spite of dire conditions they live in.
Last 2 days were used as a conference to discuss socio political aspects of exiled KPs. This was attended by LG and other representatives of Local Govt. I would like to thank the group and the organisers who have made this possible for me.

New Anti Hindu Hate monitoring tool launched
The Anti-Hindu Hate Monitor (AHHM) is the UK’s first dedicated reporting platform designed to track and document discrimination, online abuse, and hate crimes targeting the Hindu, Jain, and Dharmic communities. Launched in May by the International Centre for Sustainability (ICfS), the tool was developed in response to a growing concern over the underreporting of religion-based hostility and incidents in public spaces, schools, and online platforms.
